Professional Peer Consultation
I offer professional peer consultation for therapists and mental health professionals seeking to strengthen their competence in supporting LGBTQIA+ clients, including those navigating queer relationships, coming out, gender identity, transitioning, and sexuality. My approach draws from affirming, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed frameworks, with an emphasis on understanding queer and trans histories, lived realities, and the systemic factors shaping client experiences.

Goals & Content
Together, we can explore best practices, case consultations, identity-affirming language, and strategies for creating safer, more grounded therapeutic spaces.
Sessions also aim to support therapists in deconstructing social and gender norms, examining how these narratives shape clinical work, and cultivating a more expansive, liberated understanding of identity.
Meetings are collaborative, practical, and tailored to your clinical style, ensuring you feel confident, informed, and resourced in your work with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

Qualifications & Experience
I bring over four years of professional experience supporting queer youth and adults, alongside lived experience as a queer individual. My training includes workshops such as Fundamentals of Supporting LGBTQIA+ Clients and Supporting Transgender Clients, grounding my work in current best practices and affirming approaches. I am actively engaged in Hamilton’s queer community through social support, advocacy, and community-based work, allowing me to stay connected to local contexts and evolving needs. I am also committed to ongoing education and professional development, continuously expanding my knowledge to offer relevant, nuanced, and culturally attuned support.

"Lauren was wonderful to learn from, and offered a very informative, comprehensive training on working with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I especially appreciated that she was open to any questions, no matter how small, or seemingly silly, and that she had a welcoming presence. Some people are just meant to be doing what they do, and Lauren is one of them. She truly knows her stuff!"
