Healing from the ground up

Lauren Janna Counselling & Psychotherapy
Grounded therapy rooted in body awareness and self compassion

I AM CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS VIRTUALLY AND IN-PERSON

Heal through creativity

Art, music, sound, movement and breathwork all offer our bodies different ways of healing and growing. By engaging mindfully in these activities, our bodies and minds make room for joy, curiosity, learning and growth.

Community as support and care

We don’t have to heal alone. In group spaces, we share our stories, witness each other’s strengths, and feel less alone in our struggles. Through creativity, breath, and movement, community care helps us remember that we are connected, and we grow stronger when we hold it together.

Learn to be present one step at a time

Our fast-paced society values quick success, money and power. Slowing down and learning new skills to help your body be present, reminding yourself that you deserve gentleness and compassion.

Embrace every verion of you

Our bodies carry our stories, our emotions, and even the parts of us that learned to protect our inner child. Each aspect of ourselves deserves to be held with compassion, care, and softness. Through gentle movement, breath, and awareness, we can learn to feel safe in our own skin again. Body acceptance is about remembering that our bodies are worthy of care, confidence, and kindness, just as they are.

My Approach

I offer warm, body-based, relational therapy for women, femme and queer identifying folks navigating self-doubt, identity, and self-worth. Drawing from somatic practices, mindfulness, and parts work, we compassionately explore harmful narratives, release shame, and rebuild self-trust — so you can reconnect with your body, mind, soul and emotions, and come home to yourself.

“I’ve come to believe that caring for myself is not self‑indulgence. It is self‑acceptance, wholeness, and an act of defiance against a world that benefits from me being divided and doubting myself.”

— Sonya Renee Taylor, body‑liberation poet & activist

About me

I care deeply about ensuring clients get the holistic, complete care and treatment they need.  I am passionate about working with clients to help them learn more about themselves, focus on goals, and work on being their best-feeling selves.  .

As an individual who is part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and proud, I am proud to offer an affirming practice and safe space for all individuals of any identity or gender to explore their true selves.

Lauren J. Benedictus

My work honours queerness, femininity and identity as resistance, love, and possibility. I hold space for folks to unravel colonial and societal conditioning, to return to the wisdom of the body, and to imagine new ways of being that centre COMPASSIOn, connection, and liberation.
